TORONTO, Ontario – Former Angelo State pitcher Dax Dathe has signed with the Toronto Blue Jays as an undrafted free agent following the conclusion of the 2026 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

A native of Round Rock, Texas, Dathe earned his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Angelo State in May 2025 before finishing his collegiate career at LSU.

During his two seasons in the Blue and Gold, Dathe established himself as one of the program's premier pitchers, compiling an 18-5 record across 33 appearances, including 26 starts. The right-hander logged 157.2 innings, posting a 4.00 ERA while striking out 208 batters and holding opponents to a .244 batting average. A two-time All-Lone Star Conference and All-South Central Region selection, Dathe helped lead the Rams to an NCAA South Central Regional championship as well as Lone Star Conference regular-season and tournament titles.

"Playing for Angelo State changed my life," said Dathe. "I went in after one of the toughest years of baseball I ever had, searching for answers and people that cared about me. Thankfully one of my good friends, Kamden Kelton, got me in touch with the staff at ASU and I will forever be grateful that he did."

Dathe's standout season came in 2025 when he finished 9-1 with a 2.99 ERA. He threw two complete-game shutouts while striking out 98 hitters over 72.1 innings. Opponents batted just .206 against him, and he surrendered only 18 extra-base hits to the 303 batters he faced.

"Angelo State baseball is so much more than an elite college baseball program," Dathe continued. "Though their skill instruction on both sides of the ball is elite beyond measure, coaches Kevin Brooks, Adam Foster and Sam Mote are world class human beings that genuinely care about each of their players. Of course, winning baseball games is important as a Ram because that's what Rams do. We win. But it was always about the people and the relationships. Playing for Angelo State University and the City of the San Angelo not only made me a better baseball player, but a better man. I'll cherish my time there for the rest of my life. And I look forward to going back to visit as soon as I can."

Dathe concluded his collegiate career at LSU, making 12 appearances for the Tigers and recording nine strikeouts before signing his first professional contract with the Blue Jays.
