Biography

2017: Averaged 5.6 yards per carry on 22 rushing attempts with three touchdowns during his redshirt freshman season… Finished the year with 123 total rushing yards, including a season-high 50 yards rushing against Western New Mexico… Gilbert ran for two touchdowns against Northern Michigan and scored his third on a 9-yard run against West Texas A&M.

2016: Redshirt season. 

Prior to ASU: Rushed for over 1,000 yards as a senior at Lancaster HS... Coached by his uncle and ASU alum Chris Gilbert at Lancaster... Also competed in basketball and track & field.

Personal: Son of Cynthia and Spencer Gilbert, Sr. Has three siblings, Farrin Caldwell, Sterling Gilbert and Daniel Hooper. His grandfather, Mike Thomas, played in the NFL for the Washington Redskins.
