Nathan Janusey

In just two short years as an assistant at Angelo State, Janusey has helped the ASU throwers reach new heights.

Working on staff for the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Janusey has already coached five individual national champions and 18 All-Americans. In 2018 alone he coached Daisy Osakue to a new Division II record in the women's discus and led Nils Fischer to the third-best javelin throw in D-II history. Both throws were school records, and the performances helped Janusey to a South Central Region Coach of the Year award. Eleven Lone Star Conference individual champions have been coached by Janusey and he helped lead both the Rams and Rambelles to conference titles in the 2018 outdoor season.

Janusey came to Angelo State after three years at South Alabama developing elite throwers. He helped guided Renaldo Frechou to All-American honors in the hammer throw and Louw Kotze to an All-American award in the discus. His women throwers scored 26 points in the javelin at the 2016 conference meet and 31 points in 2015. The throwers on the men’s side added 49 points to the conference total in 2015 as well.

Prior to South Alabama, Janusey was a graduate assistant at William Wood University. He coached his first national champion in the hammer throw and had eight throwers achieve a personal record. In his two seasons, his throwers accounted for one-third of the team’s total points on the way to back-to-back conference championships.

Janusey started his coaching career by volunteering at his alma mater, Seton Hill. He guided Mallory Sanner to a personal record and propelled her to a national championship in the javelin in 2013. While at Seton Hill, he conducted the thrower training workouts for the track & field team.

He competed in the throws at Seton Hill and was a four-time conference champion while earning his Bachelor's degree.

Janusey holds USATF Level 2 Throws Certification.
