Mike Erwin

Mike Erwin became the fourth head coach in the history of the Angelo State women's soccer program. Erwin arrives in San Angelo after spending the past six seasons as the associate head coach at St. Mary's. During his tenure with the Rattlers, the program compiled a 55-37-17 record, qualified for the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament in each of his six seasons and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2022 and 2023.

During his tenure at St. Mary's Erwin helped develop 12 All-Lone Star Conference selections, six All-South Central Region honorees and one All-American. 

Prior to joining the St. Mary's staff, Erwin served as the U13-14 Girls Director for Rio Rapids Soccer Club in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In that role, he oversaw the implementation of the club's curriculum and the development of players in the U13 and U14 age groups, while also coaching teams at multiple levels within the organization. 

A native of New Mexico, Erwin is an enrolled member of the Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma. He played club soccer in Albuquerque with Rio Vista FC, now known as Rio Rapids Soccer Club. Erwin continued his playing career at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Arizona before competing semi-professionally for both the Albuquerque Asylum and Banat Storm. 

Erwin earned a bachelor's degree in political science and philosophy from the University of New Mexico. He holds both a USSF "B" License and USSF National Youth License. He and his wife, Liana, welcomed their son, Bodhi, in 2024.
