The Series
• Central Oklahoma: No. 3 seed Angelo State will face No. 6 seed Central Oklahoma for the 28th time in program history. The Bronchos hold a slight edge on the 'Belles in the all-time series as they have won 15 matches and the Rambelles have claimed 12. Earlier this season, Angelo State swept UCO on Oct. 9, during the 'Belles' 10-match win-streak. The last time Central Oklahoma was victorious over the Rambelles was in 2008, when the Bronchos swept the 'Belles at the Junell Center in San Angelo, Texas.
The Coaches
• Angelo State: Chuck Waddington (Rensselaer, 1993) took over the ASU program in 2008 and has since guided the 'Belles to a 56-39 overall mark. Waddington has propelled the Rambelles to three consecutive LSC conference appearances. Under Waddington's tutelage, the 'Belles finished the 2010 regular season with a 17-11 overall record and a 12-2 conference mark, their best record with Waddington at the helm.
• Central Oklahoma: Jeff Boyland (Mid-America) is now in his eighth year at the helm of the Central Oklahoma volleyball program. He currently holds a 173-89 overall record and has guided the Bronchos to a pair of Division II national tournaments. Boyland has coached 18 All-LSC selections, including four All-South Central Region performers and one All-American in his tenure. Boyland's Bronchos finished the 2010 regular season with a 20-10 overall record and an 8-6 conference mark.
The Program
• The 'Belles went 1-1 last week stretching their winning streak to 10 matches before dropping a 3-0 decision to West Texas A&M. The 'Belles' 10-match win streak was their best since the 1992 season when they won 14 straight to close out the regular season.
• Last week, Angelo State swept LSC foe Eastern New Mexico at the Junell Center, then fell to West Texas A&M two days later.
• ASU finished the regular season in third place in the Lone Star Conference with a 12-2 conference record. This is the 'Belles' best record under head coach
Chuck Waddington.
• Waddington added assistant coach Qi Wang to his staff over the summer. Wang brings a wealth of experience to Angelo State as he was the former head coach at Florida Tech, Northern Michigan and Truman State. The China native led Truman State to the national title game in 2002 and 2004, and was named Division II National Coach of the Year in 2002.
• Former East Central standout Holly Hicks also has joined the 'Belles coaching staff as graduate assistant. Hicks enters her first year of coaching with numerous hours of playing time on her resume. The Round Rock, Texas native competed as a member of the Austin Juniors, one of the top club programs in the state, and earned an athletic scholarship to Texas Tech.
• ASU Volleyball was picked to finish third in the conference behind West Texas A&M and Abilene Christian University.
