SAN ANGELO –
The Angelo State Rambelles were led by junior Paige Weishuhn's 18 points as they snapped a three-game losing streak with a 54-50 victory over visiting East Central University. With the victory, the Belles improve to 5-4 on the season, while the Tigers fall to 4-6 on the year.

Weishuhn, the 6-1 post, recorded a season-best 18 points and tacked on seven rebounds in the win. Senior Camille Perkins tallied 14 points, two boards, five assists and four steals, while sophomore Lindsey Mahone had another double-figure performance with 12 points, eight rebounds, four steals, an assist and one block.

The Rambelles got off on the right foot as they went on an 8-0 run (19-11) sparked by a Weishuhn trey. The Wall native contributed a team-leading 11 points in the first half alone to help the Belles to a 12-point lead by halftime. Mahone added nine points and had a three-pointer during the Belles' 8-0 run.

Angelo State closed out the first half on a 6-0 run with three consecutive lay-ups from Weishuhn, Perkins and Mahone. Perkins' bucket gave the Belles their first double-digit lead of the game (29-19), while Mahone's score was the final tally of the half as the two squads headed to the locker room with ASU leading the Tigers 31-19.

The Tigers put up a fight as they rattled off seven unanswered points to start the second half (35-30). With East Central clawing its way back into the ball game, the Rambelles' offense staggered as they were unable to connect for a field goal for ten full minutes. During that drought, the Tigers claimed their first lead since the 14:44 mark in the first half on a Ashley Robison three-pointer (41-44).

However, the Belles kept the game close as Perkins ended the field goal drought with a three at the five minute mark to cut the Tigers' lead to one (47-48). Perkins' lay-up gave life to the Rambelles as Mahone added a trey to tie the game at 50 with 4:24 to go. The hot-hitting Weishuhn gave the Belles their lead back as she hit both her free throws (52-50). The Rambelles' defense was able to keep the Tigers scoreless for the final 4:50 of the game as Angelo State edged East Central, 54-50.

East Central was led offensively by Jourdan Clark's 11 points and Casi Rawls' 10. Rawls added eight rebounds and nine assists, while Ashley Robison collected 12 boards, five points, three steals, two assists and one block in the setback.

The Belles return to action after the New Year when they host St. Mary's at 6 p.m. on Jan. 3, in the Junell Center. Live stats and live video will be available on AngeloSports.com.
