ABILENE – Maggie Schaffer scored a goal from 25-yards out off an assist from
Kara Edwards to lead the Angelo State soccer team to a 1-0 Lone Star Conference win over Abilene Christian on Friday at the ACU Soccer Pitch.
The Rambelles (8-5-1, 6-3-1 LSC) have now won three straight and swept the regular-season series against the Wildcats (4-9-1, 2-7-1 LSC). ASU, which had lost five straight to Abilene Christian coming into the season, won both games this season by a 1-0 score.
"I was confident going in," Schaffer said. "I was hoping for a win and our team did really good. This was a big confidence booster for us. It was an outstanding win and puts us in a good spot."

Schaffer's goal came in the 32
nd minute of play and was her third scoring strike of the season and was the ninth of her career at ASU. Danielle Edwards recorded seven saves in goal for ASU to help the team to its fifth shutout of the season. The assist for
Kara Edwards was her second of the season.
Abilene Christian led the Rambelles 20-11 in shots and 3-1 in corner kicks, but couldn't score against a defense which is limiting opponents to 0.80 goals per game in conference play.
Hanna Horeis and Schaffer led ASU with three shots each, while
Sierra Anderson had two and
Lauren Carnes,
Teegan Courtney and
Kat Monroe each had one.
The Rambelles return to action at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Midwestern State in Wichita Falls.
