SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State softball team returns to its Lone Star Conference schedule with a three-game series against Eastern New Mexico on March 10-11 in Portales, N.M. The teams will meet on Saturday for a single game at 2 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Sunday starting a 1 p.m.
The No. 3 Rambelles are currently 19-3 on the season and 3-0 in conference play. ASU's offense has exploded this season, launching 33 home runs and smacking 40 doubles, while scoring 180 runs. As a team, the Belles are hitting .352 led by
Elsamartina Apo. The senior from Ewa Beach, Hawaii is hitting .482 with a team-best eight doubles and a .628 on-base percentage.
“We've really swung the bat well this season,” Angelo State head coach
Travis Scott said. “The players are being selective at the plate and working deep into the count.”

Mary Kate McKay and
Claire Molina have combined for 10 complete games this season. McKay – a crafty lefty from Madill, Okla. – has a 2.04 earned run average and is 9-1 on the season. Meanwhile, Molina boasts a 10-2 record with a 3.61 ERA.
Eastern New Mexico is 6-13 on the season and 1-2 in LSC play. The Zias are coached by Lauren Sigwing, who is in her third season as head coach. Amy Smith (.395) and Katie Ramsay (.375) led ENMU's offensive attack, as the two have combined for 21 RBIs and 43 total bases. Smith is also the Zias' ace, as she has a 4.11 earned run average with a 3-5 record.
The Belles lead the all-time series 32-9 after sweeping Eastern New Mexico last season. The last time out, ASU earned a 7-2 victory in San Angelo on April 9, 2011.
