SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Angelo State women's and men's cross country programs were picked third and fifth respectively in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Cross Country Poll that was announced Tuesday afternoon at the league's annual Media Day session in San Antonio.
Last season's champion, Midwestern State, and West Texas A&M were tabbed as the favorites by the LSC on the women's side ahead of the Rambelles while the men's reigning champion, Eastern New Mexico was selected to repeat in 2012.
The Rams were tied for fifth with Tarleton State as both schools had a total of 91 points in the men's poll. ENMU had 18 first-place votes while the No. 2 team, Abilene Christian, received two.
The Mustangs were the unanimous choice on 21 ballots for 189 points on the women's side as MSU earned their fourth consecutive title in 2011.
Nine men's teams and women's teams start their season in September, while the postseason begins with the LSC Championships hosted by Cameron, on October 20, 2012.
