SAN ANGELO – For the second consecutive year the Angelo State women's cross country team broke into the top-10 of the South Central Regional Poll garnering a number seven ranking by United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.

The Rambelles were ranked No. 10 in last year's preseason regional poll by the USTFCCCA and finished in ninth overall. ASU was also tabbed for a third place standing in the Lone Star Conference's preseason rankings, but was one of only two LSC teams tabbed for the regional standings. Defending conference champion Midwestern State was ranked third by the USTFCCCA.

Under third-year head coach Tom Dibbern the Rambelles are coming off another successful campaign in 2011. Angelo State finished in the top three at the LSC Championships last year for the third straight season.

The Rambelles return six runners from last season, including five upperclassmen.  Seniors Jessica Boudreau, Kami Orsak and All-LSC and All-Regional performer Emeline Crutcher return along with juniors Sofia Ramos and Katy Williams. Sophomore Annifer Flores rounds out the returners with freshmen Chastity King being the lone newcomer.

The 2012 cross country season begins this Friday, Aug. 31 at the Bear Twilight Invitational in Waco at the Heart of Texas Soccer Complex. The women's 4K race is slated to begin at 7 p.m. followed by the men's 6K soon after.
