SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Rams scored 35 unanswered points after being down 7-0 to Western State Colorado, en route to a 42-14 victory at San Angelo Stadium in front of 6,433.
Much like last year with
Jeffrey Miller returning the opening kick for touchdown, a special teams play sparked Angelo State. Jared Ross blocked a Brennan Jacobs punt and
Courtney Moore recovered it and took it in for a 10 yard touchdown.
The Rams accumulated 437 total yards while holding the Mountaineers to 175.
ASU quarterback
Blake Hamblin threw for 320yard and four touchdowns to pace the Rams. WCSU's Brian Duboski threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Joey Knight led the Rams in receiving with 111 yards on five receptions and a touchdown. Five different Ram players scored a touchdown.
Germaine Daniels carried the ball 26 times for 38 yards for the Mountaineers.
Rush Seaver was the leading tackler with 14 for Angelo State while Demo Schmidt made nine tackles for Western State.
The Rams will host Chadron State next Saturday at 2 p.m. at San Angelo Stadium.
