No. 9 Belles Cruise Past No. 11 CSU-San Bernadino, Face Regis at 4:30 p.m. (CST)

DENVER, Colo. – Kaelen Valdez and Shelbi Goode each had 11 kills to help lead No. 9 Angelo State to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-20) win over No. 11 Cal-State San Bernadino on Friday in its opening match of the Colorado Premiere Challenge.

Shelby Wilt led the Belles (5-0) with 12 digs, while Valdez steadied the defense by adding 11 digs to her 11 kills. Chelsea Gibson had eight kills from the right side, while Alex Woolsey had a team-leading 29 assists and added eight digs. Gibson is only 35 kills away from 1,000 in her career with Woolsey taking her career assists to 3,878.

The Belles, who finished with nine blocks in the match, have still not lost a set this season (15-0) and outhit the Coyotes .316 to .073. ASU is back in action at 4:30 p.m. (CST) against Regis University.

“We did a good job of establishing our tempo quickly and Chelsea did a great job blocking,” ASU head coach Chuck Waddington said. “This next match (against Regis University) is very important because it is a region match for us. We have to bring our A-game.”
