SAN ANTONIO – The Angelo State football team shutout Incarnate Word 7-0 at Gayle & Tom Benson Field in San Antonio on Saturday afternoon to finish the season on a three-game winning streak.

The Rams (5-6, 2-4 LSC) held the Cardinals (6-5), who were averaging 373 yards of offense per game, to 228 yards of total offense. The two teams were held scoreless through the first half. The Rams threatened to score in the first quarter but turned it over on downs.

The Rams took the lead late in the third quarter after the Ram defense forced one of Incarnate Word's eight punts. The ball sat at ASU's 15 yard line and on the first play of the drive
Quinn Reels went in motion and
Kyle Washington tossed a shovel pass. Reels weaved his way 85 yards for the game's only touchdown. The 85-yard touchdown was the longest play of the season for the Rams.

The Cardinals had a chance to tie the game with the ball back and 2:11 left on the clock. UIW drove down to the ASU 15-yard line. On third down and seven UIW quarterback Trent Brittain was sacked by
Clayton Callicutt. After a timeout, Incarnate Word threw an incomplete pass to turn the ball over on downs.Â

The Ram defense forced two turnovers with interceptions by
Jarred Ross and
Rush Seaver. The 228 yards of total offense that ASU held the Cardinals to is the lowest of the season.

Washington finished the day 12-of-26 in the air and 182 passing yards. The sophomore quarterback also rushed for 110 yards on 17 carries and eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the for the fifth-straight game.

The Humble native finished the season with 1,102 rushing yards and 2.073 passing yards while also breaking Josh Neiswander's total offensive yards in a single season with 3,175 yards of total offense.

He is the first ASU quarterback to throw for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in a single season.
Reels led the Rams with two catches for 105 yards.
Ryan Clapsaddle, Callicutt and
Jonathan Family led the team with eight tackles each.

ASU racked up 442 yards of total offense including 260 on the ground. The 442 yards of total offense gives the Rams an average of 457.9 yards per game during the season which breaks the ASU season record for total offense yards averaged per game.

It is the first time since 1987 that the Rams have finished the season on a three-game winning streak and the first shutout for ASU since defeating Central Oklahoma 20-0 in 2011.Â
