Belles Welcome UTPB to the Junell Center

SAN ANGELO –
The Angelo State women's basketball team returns to Stephens Arena at the Junell Center for a non-conference matchup against UTPB at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

The Belles are 2-1 on the season but lost an exhibition game to Abilene Christian last Tuesday in Abilene. ASU is shooting 39.3-percent from the field as a team and limiting opponents to 36.4-percent.

Opponents are being forced into 22.3 turnovers per game while ASU is averaging 11.6 steals per game. The Belles are averaging 40.3 rebounds per game compared to 35.7 for the opposition.

Hillari Adam is the team's leader in points at 17.0 per game. The junior is hitting 50.0-percent of her shots and 36.4-percent from behind the arc. The Wall native has grabbed 9.0 rebounds per game and has one double-double on the season.

Fellow Wall native, Karli Kellermeier, is second on the team with 8.0 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game. The LSC Defense Player of the Week is the Belles leader in steals with 10 and has 13 offensive rebounds.

Amanda Weaver (7.7 ppg), Haylee Oliver (6.7 ppg) Rochelle Norris (6.3 ppg) and Kayla Turner (6.3 ppg) have all been scoring options for the Belles. A total of 11 players have scored so far this season for ASU.

UTPB comes in at 0-2 after dropping its opening games to Southern Nazarene 68-66 and to Southeastern Oklahoma 78-75. Three Falcons are scoring in double digits with Valerie Barriga tops with 22.0 points per game. Head coach Jerome Willis is in his first year at UTPB after compiling a record of 111-24 at Langston.

The Falcons lead the overall series 3-2 with the Belles. UTPB has won the last three matchups including a win at the Junell Center back in 2011.
