SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team came back from 11 points down in the first half to take the lead but was unable to hold on as UTPB defeated the Belles 56-50 at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center.
The Belles (2-2) struggled shooting on the night hitting only 23.6-percent from the floor compared to 35.6-percent for the Falcons (1-2). ASU shot 33 free throws but only hit 20 of them while the Falcons his 72.7-percent (8-11) from the charity stripe.

Leah LeMaire and
Kayla Turner scored in double figures. Turner scored a career high 15 points while LeMaire chipped in a season high 11 points. Adam scored 16 and grabbed 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
Katreese Locket led nine Falcons in scoring with 10 points.
UTPB started the game on a 7-0 run before the Belles went on their own 7-0 run sparked by a three pointer by LeMaire. After an Adam's jumper at the 15:31 mark the Belles wouldn't score again until the 9:38 mark with LeMaire free throws.
UTPB would go on a 13-2 run to extend its lead to 20-9 with 4:53 to play. The Belles would cut the lead to five at 27-22 at halftime after Turner hit a three pointer.
The Belles would come out in the second half on a 9-2 run with Adam scoring the first five points of the half. Another Turner three at the 12:24 mark would give ASU its first lead of the night at 34-30.
The Falcons responded outscoring the Belles 23-16 over the final 12:24 of the second half and hit seven-of-eight free throws to seal the win.
ASU's next game will be Trinity University on Mon., Nov. 25 in Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.Â
