SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will play in Odessa against UT-Permian Basin at 7 p.m. on Mon., Dec. 2 at the Falcon Dome.
The Belles are 4-3 overall after winning both of their games at the West Texas A&M Thanksgiving Classic. It will be the second true road game of the season for ASU. The first road game was a 51-40 loss to St. Mary's in San Antonio.
UTPB won the previous meeting between the two schools on Nov. 19, 56-50, at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center. UTPB is 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in the Heartland Conference.
In the last two games, the Belles have held opponents to 31.8-percent shooting while hitting 42.7-percent of their shots. ASU has hit 16 three pointers in the last two games including a season high nine against Incarnate Word. Three Belles are averaging in double digits with
Amanda Weaver scoring 13.5 per game during the two-game winning streak.
Weaver was named to the all-tournament team after scoring a career high 18 points against Incarnate Word. Weaver's points came off six-of-eight shooting from the three-point line. It is the most three pointers made in a single game since Paige Weishuhn made six on Nov. 24, 2009 against Texas A&M-International. She is second on the team in scoring at 8.0 points per game.
Rochelle Norris and
Hillari Adam are also scoring in double digits over the last two games. Norris has scored in double figures in three-straight games and is averaging 8.0 points per game over the season. Adam, the team's leading scoring this season at 13.7 points per game, averaged 10.0 points per game during the tournament.
ASU is 3-1 this season away from the Junell Center going 3-0 at neutral sites and 0-1 on the road. The Belles have a better shooting percentage (39.3-percent to 33.2-percent) and have been able to out rebound teams 37.0 to 35.8 in the four games.
This will be the first of two road games this week as ASU will play in Silver City, N.M., against Western New Mexico on Wed., Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.Â
