SAN ANGELO – The Anglo State women's basketball team held Schreiner University to the fewest points in a single game in program history in a 61-30 non-conference win on Tuesday night at the Junell Center.

Schreiner went 1-of-19 from behind the arch but was able to hit 75-percent from the free throw line for 15 points. The Belles forced 22 turnovers and out rebounded the Mountaineers 37-35.

ASU hit 44.0-percent from the field including 53.6-percent in the second half. The Belles hit seven three point shots including three from Amanda Weaver. Hillari Adam led all scorers with 18 points.

The two teams had slow starts with ASU jumping out to a 5-3 advantage at 16:27 to go in the first half. The Mountaineers and Belles would go scoreless over the next 3:49 until Schreiner would tie it up at five.

A free throw by Adam would spark a 10-0 run by the Belles to make it 15-5. After Schreiner would hit two of its nine first half free throws, the Belles would score the next six points to extend their lead to 21-7. At the break ASU would be up 23-11.

The second half started fairly as both teams would score four points each over the first four minutes with the score 29-15. The Belles would up the defensive intensity and go on a 14-4 run to go up 43-19 at the 10:10 mark of the second half. Adam would score seven of the 14 points in the run.

ASU would hold the Mountaineers to only nine points over the final 10:10 of the game to secure a 61-30 victory.

Weaver chipped in 11 points and five rebounds. Khalisha Lee had a career high eight points and seven rebounds off the bench.

The previous opponent low of 31 points was accomplished four other times in program history (Texas Lutheran, twice in 1979-1980 season, Midwestern State, 2/10/2007 and Eastern New Mexico 12/12/1011).

The Belles will play their game of 2013 against Incarnate Word at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Stephens Arena inside the Junell Center.
