Belles to Host Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball team will host Texas A&M-Commerce at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow in a Lone Star Conference matchup in Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.  

The Belles are 8-12 and 5-9 in LSC play. ASU returns to Stephens Arena where it has won two of its last three games. The Belles are 4-4 inside the Junell Center this season.

While at home the Belles defense shines. ASU holds teams to 34.9-percent from the floor and 29.5-percent from 3-point land compared to 37.4-percent and 31.0-percent for the year. The Belles also rebound better at 43.4 rebounds per game and outrebound teams by a margin of 7.1.

ASU's scoring average is down slightly at home at 56.4 and overall shooting percentage seems to dip at 36.5-percent at home. The Belles outscore opponents 197-193 in the first half at the Junell Center.

Haylee Oliver is the team's leading scorer at 12.1 per game only scored 10.8 in Stephens Arena.  Lauren Holt's average drops only slightly with a season average of 11.9 and 11.4 at home. Holt averages more rebounds with 9.3 per game.

The first game between Texas A&M-Commerce (7-11, 5-8) and the Belles was a 67-57 win for ASU. Oliver recorded a double-double with 14 points and 15 boards while Holt (15 points), Leah LeMaire (14 points) and Cassi Stegall (14 points) all scored in double figures. Karli Kellermeier recorded a career high 11 rebounds.
