SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team used a big first half to take down Arlington Baptist 83-49 and earn its fourth-straight victory Tuesday night at the Junell Center.
The Belles (5-5) set a season high with 59 rebounds with 29 coming on the offensive end while scoring 27 second-chance points. Arlington Baptist (6-2) was held to 32.7-percent from the field and were outscored 56-20 in the paint. ASU also dished out a season-high 20 assists.Â
It is the first four-game win streak for Angelo State since the 2012-3013 season. The Belles also received 53 points from the bench and made 42.5-percent from the field.
Shauna Coleman had a career night with her first double-double. The freshman scored a career high 16 points and led all rebounders with a career high 11.
Jasmine Patterson recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Â A total of 11 players scored in the game with

Amanda Weaver,
KeAnna Kelly,
Jackie Patterson adding eight points each. It was a career high for Kelly.
The Belles started the game on a 15-3 run with six points from
Jasmine Patterson. Six straight points from Kelly, Coleman and Weaver extended the lead to 23-7 with 11:05 to go in the first half. The Patriot's Jade Johnson hit a jumper to cut the Belles lead to 29-15. A jumper by
Jasmine Patterson led to an 11-0 run over the next three and a half minutes to extend the lead to 40-15. The run was highlighted by four-straight offensive rebounds that led to a 3-pointer by
Elaine Herrera. Â ASU took a 51-24 lead in at the half.
A total of nine players scored for the Belles in the first half led by
Jasmine Patterson's 10 points off the bench. The Patriots were limited to 28-percent from the floor. The Belles scored 17 points off nine ABC turnovers in the first half.
The Patriots came out in the second half and cut a 29 point lead down to 19 with a 12-2 run to make it 57-36 at the 13:37 mark of the second half. The Belles limited Arlington Baptist to just 13 points over the final 13:37 of the game. Up 68-45 with 7:05 left in the game, ASU went on a 15-4 run to close out the game. Coleman scored eight of her 15 points in the final 7:05. The Belles cooled off shooting only 35.9-percent from the floor.Â
Jade Johnson led the Patriot's with 24 points while Rosalyn Thorpe had 11 points.
The Belles will not play again until Wednesday, Dec. 31 in an exhibition game at Abilene Christian.Â
