Angelo State Volleyball Wraps up Road Tour with Stop at Texas Woman’s

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Belle volleyball will close out its seven match road tour with a trip to Denton to take on the Pioneers of Texas Woman's University on Tuesday, November 3 at 7 p.m.

ASU is currently riding a five match win streak with its last victory coming on a sweep of Eastern New Mexico last Saturday, Oct. 31. With that win in Portales, the Belles improved to 24-5 overall and 10-2 in the Lone Star Conference giving them an .833 win percentage thus far. The squad will also look to improve its 13-5 road record as well.

Texas Woman's is sitting at 20-5, 9-3 LSC and is also riding a five match win streak. The Pioneers currently lead the LSC in opponent hitting percentage, limiting them to an average .135 clip and total blocks with 134 this season.

The Belles attack currently leads the LSC in total kills (1464) and hitting percentage (.230) and will be headed up by outside hitters Brianna Sotello and Mallory Blauser as well as right side hitter Abbie Lynn. Sotello has been a major all-around asset for ASU making major contributions on both offense and defense. The sophomore is within the top three in every statistical category for the team and leads in total kills with 384. She has marked 16 double-doubles this season and has marked double-digit kills in the last six matches.

Blauser, who fired in 35 total kills over the weekend, is currently a close second on the team with 350 total kills. The junior is currently third in the LSC averaging 4.02 kills per set. Lynn has tallied double-digit kills in six of the last seven matches while posting at least a .250 attack percentage in four of those seven matches.

Setting up the attack for the Belles, Maggi Jo Keffury now has 1,233 assists on the season and 2,686 in her ASU career. The senior leader tied her season high of 64 assist during last weekend's five set match against conference rival West Texas A&M and has marked over 30 assists in every match since September 19.  She also leads the LCS and the nation in the total assist category. Her 11.97 assist per set average sits within the top five of the NCAA Division II. The setter is also credited with the second most double-doubles (12) and is third on the team with 299 digs this season.

ASU will be looking to fellow senior and team leader Katie MacLeay to anchor its defense. MacLeay has a conference first 558 total digs on the year averaging her 5.37 digs per set.  The libero has also proved to be a great asset from the service line leading the Belles with 21 service aces.

Providing depth for the Belles has been Morgan Seaton, Micheala Sifuentes, Kelly Hasbrouck and Alyssa Orr. Sophomore transfer Seaton has been of assistance on both sides of the court as of late. She is second on the squad with 55.0 total blocks and has only had one match below a .260 hitting percentage in the last month. Offensively, she marked a season high 16 kills this past month against Dallas Baptist and has carried a stellar .291 hitting percentage this year. Orr has also assisted the Belles offensive efforts with 49 kills in the last four matches while also adding eight digs and two blocks on defense.

Leading the team in service aces per set with .23, Hasbrouck has tallied 19 total aces for 2015. The sophomore has also contributed 138 total digs on defense. Sifuentes, a freshman, rounds out the defensive depth with a team fourth 170 digs this season.
