Belles Travel To Face Tarleton State on Wednesday

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team travels to Stephenville on Wednesday for a LSC road game with Tarleton State at 5:30 p.m. at Wisdom Gym.

The Belles (6-14, 1-9 LSC) will be after their first win in Stephenville since Feb. 4, 2006 in an 83-76 overtime victory. Tarleton State holds the all-time series lead 27-23. ASU is 2-6 on the road overall this season and 1-6 in conference games. The Belles have the No. 1 3-point field goal percentage defense holding teams to just 30-percent and the No. 2 field goal percentage defense at 38.8-percent.

Tarleton State is 12-8 on the season and 5-6 in the LSC. The TexAnns have lost three of their last four games including the last two. TSU leads the league in offensive rebounds with 14.8 per game and is second in the league in 3-point field goal defense at 30.3-percent Kathy Thomas the No. 3 scorer in the LSC is scoring 13.9 points per game to lead TSU while Ikpeaku Iwobi adds 11.5 per game. Iwobi is No. 2 in rebounds per game at 8.6 and grabbed a total of 71 offensive rebounds.

The first matchup between the two rivals was an 81-71 win for Tarleton State at the Junell Center. The Belles committed 23 turnovers that led to 33 TSU points. ASU did shoot 50-percent form the field and 57.1-percent from the 3-point line in the game.
Amanda Weaver scored 14 in the first game and hit two 3-pointers.

The duo of Diamalises Rivera and KeAnna Kelly has been the top scorers for the Belles especially in the last five games. Rivera, who is averaging 8.5 points per game this season, has led ASU with 16.8 points per game over the last five games. Rivera has scored in double figures in four-straight games including two games of at least 20. On the season, the Puerto Rican native has six games in double figures with a season high o f23 points coming against Cameron. Kelly has four games in double figures with three coming in the last three games. The freshman is averaging 12.2 points per game in the last five and scoring 6.2 this season. Kelly recorded a career-high 24 points against West Texas A&M.

Amanda Weaver rebounded from a scoreless game against West Texas A&M with 15 points and seven rebounds against ENMU. The junior has 12 games in double figures. The Center Point native has made 42 three pointers this season and leads the team with 44 assists. Weaver is now No. 10 on the ASU career 3-pointers made list with 104 in her career. She is three away from moving into the No. 9 spot.

Shauna Coleman is third on the team in scoring at 7.2 points per game. The freshman has scored in double figure in three of her last five games. She has one double-double on the season and is leading the team in rebounds with an average of 5.2.

Leila Jdily-Ezzad has started four games and played in 10 this season for ASU. She is scoring 5.2 points per game and twice scored in double figures. The junior transfer has 24 assists and 10 steals on the season. Michelle Rosewell is second on the team with 44 assists. The senior is tops on the team with 22 steals and is scoring 2.5 points per game

Keva Raiford, Minja Savic, Jordan Whitaker, Shanna Taylor, Kietta Saunders and Elaine Herrera provide depth for the Belles off the bench.
