No. 10 Belles Close Out Regular Season with Pair of Road Matches

SAN ANGELO – The No. 10 Angelo State volleyball team travels to New Mexico to cap its 2016 regular season as it faces Eastern New Mexico on Friday, November 11 at 7 p.m. (CST) and Western New Mexico on Saturday, November 12 at 6 p.m. (CST).

The Belles will take to the road with a current record of 27-2, 17-1 LSC and will seek to continue its 14-match win streak.  With Angelo State having secured the right to host the Lone Star Conference Tournament by becoming the outright LSC Regular Season Champions, it will look to maintain its top spot in the NCAA South Central Regional rankings.

Eastern New Mexico is currently sitting at 17-11 overall and 12-6 in the Lone Star Conference.  The Greyhounds will be looking to build off its last match which resulted in a 3-1 victory over Western New Mexico. ENMU fell earlier this season to ASU in a sweep and continues to lead, 46-19, in the all-time series.

The Belles will complete its road trip as it crosses the state and takes on Western New Mexico, which is sitting at 16-13, 8-10 LSC. The Mustangs are riding a three match losing streak and will face Tarleton State prior to Saturday's contest with the Belles. In ASU's last match up with the Mustangs the Belles came away with a sweep in its annual Dig Pink match.

Leading the Belles offense this weekend will be AVCA National Player of the Week, Mallory Blauser, as well as Abbie Lynn and Brianna Sotello. Blauser led the team with 55 kills last week, finishing in the double digits in all four matches and hitting a .369 clip. Her seven service aces led the team as well, and the Round Rock native added in seven blocks for a total of 65.5 points on the week. She also turned in 47 total digs for the week, which averaged the senior 3.92 digs per set. Lynn followed with a team third 28 kills for the week. This averaged the junior, right side hitter 2.33 kills per set.  Sotello rounds out the group with 21 kills on the week. Defensively, the outside hitter chalked 23 digs against the Belles last four opponents for an average of 3.29 digs per set.

Heading ASU's stout defense will be Morgan Seaton and Mallory Davidson. Seaton, the team leader in total blocks (90), is 10 blocks away from surpassing her 2015 total. She totaled 13 blocks averaging 1.08 per set last week. The Big Spring native also contributed a team second 34 kills to the offense while posting a team high .446 clip. Continuing to lead the team in total digs (357), Davidson averaged an outstanding 5.17 digs per set against the Belles last four opponents.  She has continually posted double figure digs in every match since October 8. She has also recorded at least 18 digs in six of the last 12 matches.

Meghan Parker will continue to distribute the rock for Angelo State. The five time setter of the week added 109 assists to her grand total of 1,088 this past week. She also assisted the defense with 21 digs and 3 total blocks.  The San Antonio native continues to remain one of the top 10 setters in the nation as she averages 11.69 assists per set. Also, adding talent to the Belles line up is Tulani Titley, Micheala Sifuentes, Eadara Files and Brooke Robertson. Titley recorded a team third 6 total blocks for the week as well as adding 16 kills to her total stats. Sifuentes checked in with a 2.38 digs per set average last week and is currently fourth on the squad with 237 total digs in 2016. Files recorded a team second 6 assists per set as well as a pair of aces last week. Finally, Robertson tallied 2.29 digs per set on the year for the Belles.

The two matches will wrap up the regular season for the Belles, who will then host the Lone Star Conference Tournament next weekend.
