SAN ANTONIO – The Angelo State softball team lost 3-0 to Texas Woman's in eight innings and will play the winner of Lubbock Christian and St. Mary's in an elimination game at 5 p.m. at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional in San Antonio.
The Rambelles were held to two hits in eight innings which is a season low. ASU left six runners on base and were shutout for the first time all season.
The game turned into a pitching duel between Brandy Marlett and TWU's Tori Bice. Bice no-hit the Rambelles through the first five innings, while Marlett scattered three hits through the first seven innings.
ASU threatened in the fifth inning after Taegan Kirk singled through the right side. The freshman sat on third base with two outs but was stranded. The Rambelles had a runner at second in the sixth but was unable to score a run.
The two teams moved into the eighth inning and TWU was able to break through with three runs on three hits. All three runs came on two outs. Â
The Rambelles will now move to the elimination game at 5 p.m. against St. Mary's or Lubbock Christian.
