SAN ANGELO – The No. 22 Angelo State women's basketball team hung on for a 68-66 win over West Texas A&M on senior day on Saturday at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center.

ASU received 22 points from its bench, 14 fast break points and converted 18-of-22 (81.8 percent) from the charity stripe. It is the first time Angelo State has won at least 20 games in back-to-back seasons since 2004-05 and 2005-06.

Three players scored in double figures led by Madi Greenwood and senior Christina Robinson scoring 14 points. Keanna Kelly added 10 points and six rebounds.  Jasmine Prophet scored nine in her final home game followed by Taylor Dorsey's seven points and eight rebounds. Lexi Murphy chipped in six points including a pivotal 3-pointer and four rebounds.

The Belles saw a five point lead disappear as West Texas A&M went up 66-65 with 1:52 to go in the game. ASU went to a senior for the lead as Murphy drained a three pointer to put the Belles on top 68.66 with 1:38 to go. Both teams missed jumpers and with 12 seconds left WT had the ball. The Lady Buffs were called for a travel and ASU had the ball with six seconds left. WT forced a turnover but its last second shot missed as ASU survived 68-66.  West Texas A&M outscored the Belles 8-4 to come within one at 59-58 to start the fourth quarter. After the two teams traded buckets, Robinson sank her third 3-pointer of the game with 3:55 to go and put ASU up 64-60. Robinson was fouled on the next possession and hit one-of-two free throws for a five point advantage before the lead disappeared.

West Texas A&M jumped out to an early 8-2 lead through the first three minutes of the game. A Dorsey layup sparked a 9-2 run to give ASU an 11-10 lead with 4:57 to go in the first quarter. Kelly was fouled on a 3-pointer and drained all three and later hit a layup to cap off the run. WT regained the lead but ASU received four straight points from Robinson to tie the game at 15. The Belles would score six of the last eight points of the quarter with Greenwood hitting layups on back-to-back possessions to give ASU a 21-17 lead at the end of the first.

The Belles would build its lead in the second quarter. A Murphy three pointer started a 10-3 run to build a 35-24 advantage at the 4:08 mark of the second quarter. The Lady Buffs battled back to trim the ASU lead to 35-30 but Robinson drained a three pointer during a 7-0 run to build a 42-30 advantage at the break.

ASU held a 10 point lead to start the third quarter three different times until a quick 6-0 WT run made it 46-42 with 5:30 to go in the third quarter. Robinson hit another 3-pointer and Kelly duplicated it with a three of her own to extend the lead to 53-42 with 1:25 to go.
