No. 8 Rambelles Hit Road for Series with Eastern New Mexico and Lubbock Christian

SAN ANGELO – The No. 8 Angelo State softball team will hit the road for a three-game LSC series with Eastern New Mexico starting on Friday, March 10 and then face No. 20 Lubbock Christian for a doubleheader on Monday, March 13 in Lubbock.

The Rambelles are 21-1 overall and 6-0 in the LSC and coming off a doubleheader sweep of No. 3 St. Mary's. This will be the second LSC road series of the year. Angelo State is batting.348 while being ranked No. 2 in the LSC and No. 16 nationally. ASU is also in the top 10 nationally being No. 6 in home runs per game (1.33 ), No. 8 in on-base percentage (.455) and No. 8 in slugging percentage (.595).

Eastern New Mexico is 13-16 overall and 6-3 in the LSC but are 3-6 at home. No. 20 Lubbock Christian 16-6 overall and has a series with St. Mary's before ASU comes to town.

The Rambelle pitching staff has a 1.63 ERA on the season and holding teams to a .175 batting average. ASU only allowed one run to St. Mary's in 12 innings. Kenedy Urbany is 8-0 on the season with a save. She has thrown 54.2 innings and only allowed 37 hits and 10 runs. The 37 hits are No. 23 fewest in Division II. The Helotes native has struck out 37 and holding teams to a .182 average.

Brandy Marlett is 9-1 on the year with a 1.83 ERA. She threw a five-inning shutout against St. Mary's on Wednesday. She leads the LSC with 90 strikeouts and holds opponents to a .150 average. She is ranked No. 7 nationally in strikeouts. She has only allowed 20 runs in 65.0 innings pitched.

Morgan Hill is 4-0 on the year with a 2.51 ERA. She has thrown 22.1 inning with 21 strikeouts. The junior has only given up nine runs on 19 hits. Opponents are being held to a .226 batting average.

Courtney Barnhill leads ASU in average at .459 and is No. 1 in the LSC with a .885 slugging clip. The freshman is tops on the team in hits (28), runs scored (22) home runs (7) and RBI (24). She is on a nine game hit streak and reached base safely in 20 straight games. She hits .515 with runners on base and .565 with runners in scoring position. Barnhill also has drawn 14 walks and stole nine bases.

Taegan Kirk had a double and two runs scored against St. Mary's. The sophomore is hitting .393 with 24 hits. She leads the team with seven doubles and has hit four home runs. The Lubbock native has driven in 22 RBI and scored 17 runs. She has a .705 slugging percentage and a .439 on-base percentage. Kirk leads the team with 14 two-out RBI and is on a six-game hit streak.

Bailey Wallace is hitting .382 with 21 hits, two doubles and a home run. She has scored 21 runs and is one of six Rambelles to drive in at least 11 RBI. She has stolen three bases and drawn three walks on the year. She also has a .485 on-base percentage. Wallace hits .385 with runners in scoring position and has a success rate of .676 on advancing runners.

Madison Greenwell is No. 9 nationally in triples with three and tied for the LSC lead. She has 24 hits and scored 16 runs. The junior has a .369 average and a .447 on-base percentage. She also hits .524 with runners in scoring position. All three times Greenwell reached against St. Mary's turned she scored.

Brooke Mangold continued her climb to a .355 average. The junior has 11 hits and recorded her first home run against St. Mary's. She has scored 11 runs and leads ASU with 10 stolen bases on the season. She also has two doubles and six RBI.

Danae Bina is tied for second on the team with nine stolen bases. She has a .333 average and scored 18 runs on the season. She has 16 hits with five being doubles and 11 walks. The Kansas native hits .471 with runners in scoring position successful advances runners 57.1 percent of the time.

Karina Rocha is has a .694 slugging percentage with a .327 average on the season with 16 hits. She has five home runs one double and one triple on the season. She has drawn the third most walks on the team with 13.

Katlyn Herzog and Kelly Johnson have seen action off the bench and starting. Both have driven in nine runs while Johnson has added scoring seven runs. Herzog has two home runs and a .727 slugging clip. She has also drawn five walks.

Urbany has 20 hits on the season with No. 20 being a grand slam home run against St. Mary's. She is second on the team with six doubles. She has hit six home runs and has a season average of .308. The senior has scored 19 runs on the season and drawn six walks.

Alexis Evans has two home runs and four doubles this season. The senior has a team high 15 walks and maintains a .245 batting average.
