Belles look to extend winning streak this weekend, take on TWU and TAMUC

SAN ANGELO – Riding an eight match winning streak, the Angelo State women's volleyball team (17-4, 10-1 Lone Star Conference) will travel to the Dallas area this weekend to face Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Commerce.

"I'm playing five freshmen, and all of them are doing great things for us," Angelo State head volleyball coach Chuck Waddington said. "There's a lot of good volleyball happening and we're doing good things against good teams."

The Belles have been excellent all year defensively, leading the conference in opponent hitting percentage and ranking second in both opponent kills per set and blocks per set. Baleigh Allen has led the Belles at the net all year long, recording 67 blocks on the season. Sundara Chinn and Sophia Berg have been excellent at the net as well, recording 51 and 45 blocks, respectively. Anna Graham and Audrey Fragniere round out the top five with totals of 35 and 27.

Sundara Chinn and Makenna Hanssen lead the Belles in digs with 224 and 207, respectively. Setter Meghan Parker and libero Chloe Robinson are close behind with 193 and 192, and Morgan Preston rounds out the top five with 150.

Offensively, the Belles have been led all year by Audrey Fragniere, who crossed the 200 kills threshold in the win over TAMUK. Sundara Chinn is close behind with 193 kills, and Anna Graham is third on the team with 156. Baleigh Allen has contributed 146 on a .321 hitting percentage, which ranks third in the Lone Star Conference.

Setter Meghan Parker has been steady for the Belles all season, ranking second in the conference in total assists with 763 for an average of 9.91 per set. She also ranks first in the conference in aces per set, averaging .44.

Bailey Drum, Brianna Hudson, Makenzie Griffin, and Grace White have all been integral members of the team this season. Drum ranks sixth on the team in total kills with 74 for an average of 1.40 per set. Hudson has excelled in limited playing time, recording 34 kills in just 31 sets played, including a 13 kill performance earlier this season against Texas A&M-Commerce. Griffin has posted 29 kills in just 18 sets played, averaging 1.61 per set, and White has 17 kills in 18 sets played.
