SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State tennis team will play four matches this weekend a the Ouachita Baptist Team Tournament in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
The Belles (2-1) will be playing their first matches since taking on St. Edward's in San Angelo on February 10. It was ASU's first loss of the 2018 season.
Angelo State will open the tournament by taking on head coach Chris Bizot's alma mater, Mississippi College at 8 a.m. Friday and then face North Central Texas College at noon later that day. On Saturday, the Belles will take on Ouachita Baptist at 9 a.m. followed by a match against Henderson State at 2 p.m. to close out the Tournament.
Maria Delgadillo leads the team with an 8-3 record in the fall/spring combined as well as a 2-0 showing this spring. Lucie Maitrot has followed close behind with a 7-4 showing this year overall and a 2-0 record in the spring.
Two other Belles are undefeated this spring in Yasmine Ansari and Melanie Dreux, who are both 2-0. Ena Ovcina and Zoë Gubbels are each 2-1 in dual matches and Virginie Becht is 1-1.
In doubles play, Delgadillo and Ovcina have put in a strong performance this spring with a  perfect 3-0 record, with the pairing of Gubbels and Maitrot close behind at 2-1. Becht has won a doubles match with both Dreux and Ansari while also dropping one with Ansari.
