ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas - The Angelo State tennis team earned a 9-0 win over Henderson State Saturday morning, closing out the Ouachita Baptist Team Tournament with a 2-1 showing.
The win marked the second straight for the Belles, who are now 4-2 this spring.
ASU jumped out to an early lead with wins in all three doubles matches.
Ena Ovcina and Maria Delgadillo led the way by building an early 3-0 lead on court one and finishing off the win 8-3.
On court three, Yasmine Ansari and Virginie Becht had a strong showing as well, going up 5-2 and eventually winning the match 8-5.
The most dramatic of the doubles matches came on court two, however, as Lucie Maitrot and Zoe Gubbels went down 4-2 early. The two did not give up, and came back to take the third doubles point 9-8.
Ovcina and Delgadillo both continued their dominance as the matched moved to singles. Ovcina quickly handled her match, winning 6-1 and 6-2, while Delgadillo earned 6-2 wins in both of her first two sets.
On courts three and four, Ansari and Gubbels also made quick work of their opponents. Ansari won 6-3, 6-4, and Gubbels dropped just two sets en route to 6-2, 6-0 wins.
Becht earned a win on court five 6-2, 7-5, and Maitrot played a pro set to finish the match, winning 8-2.
The Belles will be back at home for their next match, taking on St. Mary's at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the ASU Tennis Courts.
