Belles Host Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State in Battle of LSC Top Teams

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will host Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday, Feb. 8 for Concho Valley School Night and will welcome Tarleton State on Saturday, Feb. 10 while wearing pink jerseys to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Concho Valley School night on Thursday will be all general admission tickets will be just $1. Saturday any youth under the age of 12 wearing a youth jersey will be given free admission when accompanied with an adult. The Belles will don pink jersey on Saturday and encourage fans to wear pink. Fans will also have multiple ways to donate with all proceeds going to the Kay Yow Foundation.

The Belles (16-4, 11-3 LSC) are tied for first place with Texas A&M-Commerce. The last two losses prior to the eight game win streak came the road at Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce. ASU has won eight straight games while leading the league in scoring (73.1 points per game), assist to turnover ratio (0.97) and blocked shots (5.25).

Four Belles are scoring in double figures led by Marquita Daniels 14.1 points per game. The senior, who was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week, recorded back-to-back 20 point performances for the first time this season. She recorded 27 on the road against Cameron and followed it up with 29 versus Midwestern State. It is her fourth game of at least 20 points this season. She averages 3.5 steals per game which is No. 3 in NCAA Division II and is tops on the team with 68 assists.

De'Anira Moore, the LSC Defensive Player of the Week,made history against Midwestern State becoming the first player in program history to record a triple-double. She tied Brandai Prince for most blocks in a single game with 10 while scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. The sophomore is averaging 12.7 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game. She also averages 3.35 blocks per game and hits 47.6 percent from the field.

Dezirae Hampton had her third double-double against Midwestern State and has scored in double figures in 13 of the last 14 games. She averages 12.0 points and 7.3 rebounds. She is one of three Belles to record at least 7.0 rebounds per game. The junior is also one of five with at least 40 assists to go along with 17 steals.

Ekiya Gray, who missed the last two games due to injury, is scoring 11.2 points per game with 8.7 rebounds in 11 games. She hits 49.4 percent from the field and has handed out 17 assists.

Madi Greenwood is the top LSC free throw shooter at 86.8 percent from the charity stripe. She has hit 26 three pointers and scored 9.9 points per game. The senior is second on the team with 45 assists and has also recorded 14 steals. She has scored in double figures in eight games this season.

Keanna Kelly is the team leader in 3-pointers with 32 on the year. She scored 9.3 points per game. She is third on the team with 41 assists and second with 20 steals. The senior has eight games in double figures

Kynese Davis, Mikayla Blount, Dearria Watson and Aaliyah Warren have provided depth throughout the season. Davis has 41 assists and scored 3.0 points per game while Blount scored 3.7 points per game with 16 assists, eight blocks and six steals. Watson has seen action in nine games with 1.7 points and 1.4 rebounds. Warren has scored in three straight games and four of the last five.
