LAWTON, OKLAHOMA – The Angelo State volleyball team defeated Cameron in four sets (25-21, 26-28, 25-19, 25-20) to extend their winning streak to five matches and improve their record to 14-4 (7-1 Lone Star Conference).
The first set was a tight one, with neither team gaining much separation throughout. The Belles went on a 7-3 run punctuated by an Anna Graham kill to take the set.
The second set was much of the same, with neither team gaining any separation throughout. The Belles battled back from a 24-21 deficit to take a 25-24 lead, but Cameron went on a 4-1 run to take the second set and tie the match going into halftime.
The third and fourth sets were close throughout with the Belles pulling away down the stretch both times. The match was punctuated by a Sundara Chinn kill, which capped off a 6-2 run.
The Belles were led offensively by Baleigh Allen and Audrey Fragniere, who posted 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Both players had a hitting percentage over .320 for the match. Bailey Drum and Anna Graham posted 10 kills each, and Sundara Chinn added 9.
Defensively, the Belles were led by freshmen Chloe Robinson and Makenna Hanssen, who posted 15 and 12 digs, respectively. At the net, the team was led by Anna Graham, who posted five blocks. Bailey Drum and Baleigh Allen combined for five blocks as well.
Setter Meghan Parker continued her excellent play this season, posting a double double with 52 assists and 10 digs.
The Belles will be back in action next weekend at Stephens Arena at the Junell Center this coming weekend, taking on Western New Mexico and UT Permian Basin.
