SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team (9-3, 2-0 Lone Star Conference) defeated Texas Woman's University in four sets (26-24, 25-18, 24-26, 25-22) to remain undefeated at home this season.
For the second straight match, ASU played excellent defense, never allowing TWU to post above a .200 hitting percentage in any set. The Belles also recorded 14 blocks in the match.
Trailing 20-14 in, the Belles mounted a comeback behind the serving of Morgan Preston, going on a 12-6 run to close out the first set. The Belles then played a mostly back and forth second set, but finished on a seven point run to close it out and take a 2-0 lead.
After a difficult third set, ASU bounced back in the fourth, closing out the pesky Pioneers with a couple of great plays at the net.
Setter Meghan Parker and Audrey Fragniere both posted a double double for the Belles. Parker tallied 42 assists and 11 digs, and Fragniere had 14 kills and 13 digs.
The Belles will be back in action Tuesday, September 11th at 7 p.m. CST when they go on the road to face #24 Tarleton State.
