ODESSA – The Angelo State women's basketball team (11-2, 5-1 Lone Star Conference) built an early lead and held on to defeat UT Permian Basin 74-63 Thursday afternoon.
Marquita Daniels led the Belles with 18 points, four rebounds, five assists, and six steals. De'Anira Moore only missed one shot on the afternoon and finished with 16 points and four rebounds. Catara Samuel came off the bench and scored a career high 15 points while also grabbing four rebounds.
Dezirae Hampton also had an impactful outing with nine points and a team leading 11 rebounds while adding four assists, while Asia Davis recorded seven points, two rebounds, and an assist.
For the game, the Belles shot 44 percent while holding the Falcons to just 36 percent shooting and 21 percent from the three point line while forcing 15 turnovers.
The Belles will be in action again Saturday as they travel to Silver City to battle Western New Mexico.
