SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will look to continue their road success this season as they take on UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico this weekend.
The Belles have been led all season by senior guard Marquita Daniels, who is averaging 15.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 3.4 steals per contest. She leads the Lone Star Conference in steals per game. Dezirae Hampton and De'Anira Moore also average double figures for the Belles. Hampton averages 14.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and two steals per contest, while Moore averages 14.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
Maria Delgado, Asia Davis, Catara Samuel, Essence Johnson, and Mikayla Blount have all seen significant minutes and been consistent contributors this year. Delgado is averaging 9.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest while shooting 39 percent from the three point line. Davis averages 8.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 80 percent from the free throw line. Samuel and Johnson both average 5.5 points per game. Johnson averages 4.4 rebounds while Samuel averages 2.7. Blount averages just under four points per game and leads the team in three point shooting at 44 percent.
UT Permian Basin comes into the contest with a record of 3-11 (0-6 Lone Star Conference) and having lost four consecutive games.
Western New Mexico comes into the contest with a record of 6-7 (2-4 Lone Star Conference).
