SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team (14-5, 7-3 Lone Star Conference) defeated Tarleton State 64-62 Saturday evening at the Junell Center behind the stellar play of Ronald Bell.
The Rams were led by the aforementioned Bell, who had 21 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 15-18 from the free throw line. Bell also made several clutch plays down the stretch. Marcel Pettway joined Bell in double figures as he finished with a season high 10 points and eight rebounds.
The game was close throughout, with no team leading by more than six points. Bell made free throws all game long and converted two huge tip ins down the stretch.
Three other Rams scored at least six points, including Kiair Crouch, Daron Mims, and Collin Turner, who hit the clinching free throws.
The Rams will be in action again Saturday afternoon as they take on Texas A&M-Commerce at 4 p.m.
