No. 22 Rams Dominate the Falcons

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 22 Angelo State University football team stomped the University of Texas-Permian Basin Falcons, 56-7, on Saturday evening.

The Rams improve to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

In Case You Missed It:
  • The Rams first drive of the game ended in a 33-yard field goal attempt by Connor Flanigan to put the Blue and Gold on the board first at 3-0.
  • The second drive of the game for the Rams ended in a 15-yard touchdown reception by Lawson Ayo to increase the Rams lead to 10-0.
  • The Falcons ended the Rams shutout on a 1-yard rush by Davion Sutton to cut the Rams lead to 10-7.
  • In the second quarter the Rams second drive, Payne Sullins found Keke Chism down field to complete a 39-yard pass for an ASU touchdown to push the Blue and Gold lead to 17-7.
  • The momentum for the Rams continued as the Falcons threw an interception and Simon Maxey returned it for 32 yards for the first pick six of the season and giving the Rams a 24-7 lead over the Falcons.
  • With just over two minutes remaining in the first half, the Rams went three plays for 52 yards in 49 seconds and ended the drive with Sullins throwing a 29-yard pass to Austin Landry to push the Rams to 31-7 at the half.
  • Early in the third quarter, Kellen Pachot scored his first touchdown on the season, punching one in from 2-yards out to give the Blue and Gold a 38-7 lead.
  • UTPB's first drive of the fourth quarter, Clayton Roberts fumbled the ball and Devin Washington picked it up and returned the fumble 22-yards to increase the Rams lead to 51-7.
  • Halfway through the fourth with the Rams leading 58-7, Charlie Rotherham insured the victory with a 33-yard touchdown reception to Alize Thomas to push the Rams victory to 65-7.
  • The Rams offense totaled 510 yards for their first 500-yard offensive game of the season.
Key Players:
  • Chism led the offense with nine receptions for 121 yards while Landry finished with six receptions and 74 yards.
  • Ayo finished with 92-yards on four receptions and Thomas tallied 37 yards on two receptions.
  • The defense was a force and held the Falcons to 208 yards. Washington and Maxey scored two touchdowns to help assist in the Rams victory.

The Rams step out of conference action and travel to Alamosa, Colorado to take on in-region opponent Adams State on Saturday, November 2. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
