Women's Soccer Records Sixth Shutout

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Angelo State University women's soccer team scored its sixth shutout of the season after defeating Oklahoma Christian 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Belles improve to 7-1-1 on the season and 3-0-1 in conference play.

In Case You Missed It:
  • Early in the first half, Kiah Benham notched her first goal of the season with an assist from Valerie Solis to give the Belles a 1-0 lead.
  • Heading into the half, the Blue and Gold were out shooting the Eagles, 8-3.
  • In the second half, Avery McNeme found Trenadey Scott in front of the net to increase the Belles lead to 2-0. With the goal, Scott tallied her fourth of the season.
  • Angelo State notched 17 shots on the day with nine landing on goal.
Coach McCorkle's Thoughts:
"Good performance from our girls. If we are a little better in the attack, we get another goal or two. Proud of our shutout and the girls that stepped in today and put in a good performance. We will work on getting better this week with our passing and finishing and keep taking positive steps forward."
 
Key Players:
  • Benham and Scott both notched goals for the Belles. Benham had one shot land on target while Scott had two.
  • Reagan Urbany tallied three shots with two landing on goal, while five other Belle players tallied shots as well.
  • Kira Miller notched two saves in the net in 90 minutes of action.
Up Next:
Angelo State returns home for homecoming weekend, hosting Lubbock Christian for its pink game on Thursday, October 10, followed by the University of Texas – Permian Basin on Saturday, October 12. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. on Thursday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
