Rams Earn Overtime Victory Over SeaWolves

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – A last second three-pointer by Ronald Bell to force an overtime, helped the Angelo State University men's basketball team defeat the Sonoma State University SeaWolves in its season opener, 82-78.

The Rams start the season off 1-0.

In Case You Missed It:
  • The Rams claimed its first lead of the game on a three-point shot by Collin Turner to lead, 5-3 just three minutes into the first half.
  • Both teams traded off the lead throughout the duration of the first half but the SeaWolves grabbed the edge heading into halftime, 30-28.
  • The Rams outshot Sonoma State in the first half with a 50 percent from beyond the arc and a 66.7 percent from the line.
  • In the second half, the Rams struggled to find momentum until the 6:21 mark, when the Rams went on a 4-0 run to cut in on the SeaWolves' lead and trail 57-55.
  • Trailing 67-62, the Blue and Gold went on another 4-0 run to bring it within one of the Sonoma State lead to trail 67-66 with 54 seconds to go in the game.
  • In a last second effort, the Rams called a timeout and Ronald Bell dropped a three-pointer to tie the game with seven seconds to go at 69-69
  • Angelo State grabbed its first lead of the second half in overtime at 78-75 and earned the victory, 82-78.

  • Andres Ibarguen earned his first career double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
  • Bell led all scorers with 20 points, while Jeremy Hayes had 19 and Collin Turner had 17.
  • As a team, the Rams shot 44.1 percent from the floor, 38.5 percent from beyond the arc, and 71.4 percent from the line.
