PORTALES, NEW MEXICO – The Angelo State women's basketball team could not hold a double digit fourth quarter lead as they fell to Eastern New Mexico 71-67 Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Belles drop to 18-4 (13-3 Lone Star Conference) on the season.
Marquita Daniels led the Belles with a career high-tying 29 points, including five three pointers. Dezirae Hampton joined her in double figures with 10 points, while De'Anira Moore finished with nine points and 10 rebounds.
The Belles struggled from the field throughout the game, shooting just 32 percent from the field and 29 percent from three. The biggest discrepancy, however, came at the free throw line, where the Belles allowed the Greyhounds to shoot 32 and make 25 while attempting just five themselves.
The Belles will be in action again next weekend at home as they will take on Western New Mexico and UT Permian Basin.
