KINGSVILLE – The Angelo State women's basketball team defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville 78-61 Tuesday evening to move to 17-2 (12-1 Lone Star Conference) on the season.
The Belles were led by De'Anira Moore, who had a double double with 24 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 10-11 from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line. She tied her career high in points with the effort. Marquita Daniels and Maria Delgado joined her in double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively, and Delgado knocked down 3-5 three pointers on the night.
Defensively, the Belles excelled in several areas, holding Kingsville to 32 percent shooting from the field and outrebounding the Javelinas 50-24. Dezirae Hampton had nine rebounds and Daniels had seven to go along with the 11 that Moore recorded. Those three combined outrebounded the Javelinas by themselves.
For the game, the Belles shot 46 percent from the field and made 15 free throws while recording 16 offensive rebounds and forcing nine turnovers.
The Belles will be in action again on Saturday as they take on TWU on the road.
