LAREDO, TX – The Angelo State Rams advanced to 4-2 on the season after they put up two impressive wins over the Texas A&M International Dustdevils. The Rams continued their powerful offensive roll by outscoring TAMIU 20-2 over the course of the doubleheader.
Game 1 – Official Box Score
Angelo State attacked early in Game 1, putting up runs in the first four innings of the game. Lachlan Mayo was responsible for driving in the first run of the game by the way of a hard hit double that scored Jordan Williams. Josh Elvir would then show that he has plenty of gas left in the tank, pulling a ball deep over the right field fence that would also bring Riley Peterson around the bases. Mayo then proved that growing up in Australia doesn't affect your ability to play baseball in the cold, as the Sydney native connected for a two-run homerun, once again bringing in Jordan Williams. The Dustdevils would fail to answer until the fifth inning. TAMIU would only scratch a single run across in the bottom of the fifth and ultimately lose 7-1.

Jordan Williams remained a fixture on the bases, hitting 2-2, walking twice, scoring two runs, and stealing a base.
Riley Peterson also continued his impressive offensive tear, getting on base three times via a hit, which allowed him to cross the plate as a runner a single time as well. This three-hit performance would cap off Peterson's 10 hit streak.
Get them in
Lachlan Mayo provided the muscle for the Rams' offensive charge, as he went 3-4 at the plate with four RBIs by the way of a single, a double, and a homerun.
Josh Elvir finished the game going 1-2 at the plate with his homerun. Elvir would also draw two walks in the Rams' win.
Don't let them get on or get in
Tyler Lesley would take to the mound for the first five innings of the game and ultimately collect the win. Lesley pitched for a solid five innings – giving up only four hits and one run while striking out four of the 21 batters that he faced.
Jacob Crabtree then made his first appearance on the season after spending a little time in the bullpen against Colorado School of Mines in the Rams' last series. The redshirt freshman was almost perfect as a closer, striking out two hitters and making the other four flyout. Crabtree would only face seven hitters in his two innings of work.
Game 2 – Official Box Score
The Rams would once again only allow one run to cross the plate in the second game of the afternoon. Angelo State would also continue to play by their strength, outscoring the Dustdevils 13-1. Angelo State would draw a total of 14 walks in the game and collect nine hits.
The offensive output for Angelo State was spread throughout the lineup, with nine different players driving in runs. Parker Bramlett was the team leader in hits, going 2-5 at the plate and driving in two runners as well. Lachlan Mayo and Jordan Williams would also be tough outs at the plate. The pair both went 1-3 and drew three walks on the game.
Trent Baker would dominate through seven innings of work for the Rams and collect his first win of the season. The Georgetown native struck out four, walked three, and gave up only one hit in his performance. Baker would also allow his defense work behind him, as he induced six flyouts and 10 groundouts.
Austin Thomason finished off Texas A&M International by closing out the last two innings of the game. Thomason struck out two of the ten batters he faced, while giving up three hits and a single run.
The Rams return to action on tomorrow, February 9th, at noon to try and collect the series sweep.
