Belles suffer loss to nationally ranked Azusa Pacific

AZUSA, CALIFORNIA – The Angelo State women's team suffered their third loss of the season Wednesday as they lost to nationally ranked Azusa Pacific 6-1.

The Belles lost the doubles point, as the duo of Valentina Gonzalez and Ena Ovcina lost 6-4, Zoe Gubbels and Virginie Becht lost 6-1, and Maria Delgadillo and Lucie Maitrot lost 6-3.

In singles, they did not fare much better. Gonzalez lost 6-3, 6-3, Ovcina lost 6-4, 6-4, Delgadillo lost 7-6, 7-6, and Maitrot lost 6-3, 6-2. Virginie Becht also lost the first set 6-1 before the overall match ended. Gubbels notched the lone point for the Belles as she won at number five singles, posting a 6-4, 6-1 result.

The Belles will be in action again tomorrow as they will take on Cal State Los Angeles at 1:30 p.m.
