LAWTON, OKLAHOMA – The Angelo State women's tennis team improved to 17-3 (3-0 Lone Star Conference) on the season as they defeated Cameron University 4-3 Friday afternoon.
The match did not get off to a good start for the Belles, as the duo of Valentina Gonzalez and Ena Ovcina lost 6-2 while Zoe Gubbels and Virginie Becht lost 7-5. Maria Delgadillo and Lucie Maitrot won 7-5, but the point had already been lost.
In singles, the inauspicious beginning continued as Gonzalez lost 6-4, 6-3 and Ovcina lost 6-4, 7-6. Maria Delgadillo won 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, Zoe Gubbels won 6-1, 6-2, and Virginie Becht won 6-0, 6-2 to tie the match at 3. Lucie Maitrot won 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to clinch the match for the Belles.
The Belles will be in action again this coming week at home as they will take on Midwestern State.
