Rams Take Series Opener Win over Texans 12-1

STEPHENVILLE, TX – The Angelo State Rams claimed a dominant 12-1 game one win over the Texans to take the series momentum. The Rams, were scored their 12 runs on 13 hits, hit five doubles and were led by Jacob Finke's 2-4 three RBI performance at the plate.

Angelo State continued their trend of getting ahead early and often as they struck with three runs in both the first and second innings. They would plate single runs in the third and fifth before piling on four more for good measure in the top of the sixth. There were five members of the ASU lineup with multiple hits: Josh Elvir, Nick Seginowich, Jacob Finke, Riley Peterson, and Parker Bramlett all collected two hits on the day. Riley Peterson was also good for two RBI on the day.

Shannon Broussard earned the start, but was replaced by Tyler Lesley in the second inning. Broussard faced five batters, struck out two, gave up two hits and no runs. Lesley made good use of his relief appearance, however, as the San Antonio native would stay in for the remaining six innings of play and give up only one run on three hits while striking out three. This appearance was Lesley's longest, matching his only other six inning outing he had against Eastern New Mexico on April 12th.

The Rams are now 5-0 against the Texans on the season as they move to 35-7 overall and 15-2 in Lone Star Conference play. The Texans' record turns to 12-27 overall with a 2-11 conference record. They are now riding a five game losing streak. The teams will face off again on Friday in doubleheader fashion starting at 1 p.m.

Notable Fact: The Rams have now scored double-digit runs in their last seven games
