LAREDO, TX – The Angelo State Rambelles dropped both games of their midweek doubleheader against the Texas A&M – International Dustdevils on Wednesday.
The first game of the day ended in heartbreak for the Rambelles after the Dustdevils scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure the walk-off 6-5 win. Â ASU took the first lead of the game with two solo shots in the third inning courtesy of Taegan Kirk and Maleya Burns. A throwing error in the fourth would then give the Rambelles a fourth inning 3-0 lead. The Dustdevils then brought out their own firepower are they blasted a pair of two run home runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take the late game 4-3 lead. After another error plated two more runs for the Rambelles in the seventh inning, they held a one run advantage going into TAMIU's last attempt to fight back. After Angelo Jimenez tied the game up with a solo shot to left field, Maya Paul singled through the left side to score a run and give the Dustdevils the 6-5 victory.
Angelo State was held scoreless in the second game of the day as International went on to take the 8-0 shutout win. It was Sara Caterson in the circle who gave up only four hits to the Rambelles in her complete five innings of work. Maleya Burns continued her successful day at the plate with a 2-2 performance in the doubleheader finale.
