KINGSVILLE, TX – The Angelo State Rambelles came out on top over the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs after having their game time delayed seven hours on Friday. The Rambelles, who were swept by WTAMU earlier in the season, held the Lady Buffs to just two runs in the seven innings, winning by a score of 3-2.
Angelo State benefited from three walks and a single in the first inning to plate the first run of the game. Karina Rocha drew the RBI walk after Hatty Shope walked, Courtney Barnhill singled, and Taylor Fogle walked to load the bases. The Lady Buffs answered with an RBI single that scored a runner after a hit by pitch, an error, and a walk.
Avery Zeigler got things started in the second inning with a leadoff single up the middle. Courtney Barnhill doubled to center field to bring her in in, and then Taylor Fogle followed her up with a double of her own to bring in Barnhill. The Rambelles lead 3-1 going into the middle of the second inning.
Although Angelo State would not score for the remaining five innings of play, Meagan Hill limited one of the most dangerous offenses in the Lone Star Conference to just one more run in the game.
Hill's performance in the circle was only the fifth time that the Lady Buffs have been held below three runs on the season. The Salado native, who was just honored as second team all-conference, threw all seven innings of the game and struck out more hitters than she gave up hits to. Hill's final line reads two runs on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts in her seven innings of work.
