Osakue wins discus title at World University Games

NAPOLI, ITALY – Former Angelo State discus thrower Daisy Osakue added to her long list of accolades this year, winning the World University Games. Osakue, the two-time defending NCAA Division II national champion in the discus, posted a personal best mark of 61.69 meters (202-5).

"I would like to thank my entire support system, my coaches, my parents, and my friends for their support," Osakue said.

Along with her discus crown at this year's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Osakue was also an All-American in both the shot put and the high jump. She currently holds the Angelo State, Lone Star Conference, and NCAA Division II records in the women's discus.

Osakue will now look toward the World Championships, which will be contested in September in Doha, Qatar.
