The Game
Angelo State and Texas A&M - Kingsville have met several times on the gridiron. This will be the first meeting between Girsch and Wilkinson, since Girsch is in his first year at the helm of the Rams. The last meeting between these two team, ASU defeated the Javelinas 30-14. Payne Sullins went 7-of-18 for a 117 yards with one touchdown. Leading rusher, Tyrese Nathan had 29 attempts on the ground for 119 yards. Lawson Ayo was the leading receiver with three catches for 72 yards and one touchdown.

The Javelinas enter the weekend, 1-1, to start the 2019 season. TAMUK finished 4-7 on the season and 2-6 in the conference. Kingsville currently averages 43.00 points a game. They are averaging 172.0 yards in rushing and 280.50 yards passing.
 
Last Time Out
The Rams hosted Simon Fraser on Saturday, September 14 and came out with a dominating victory, 68-7. Lloyd Howard III was the leading rusher with a total of 130 yards. In the second quarter, ASU went 61 yards on three plays in 29 seconds with Howard rushing for 49 of those yards for the Rams touchdown to take a 37-0 lead over the Clan. Howard's rush was a career-high long.  Payne Sullins finished the night 17-of-25 for 196 yards and two touchdowns.
 
Player to Watch
Lawson Ayo is on the verge of a breaking the receiving yard record. Ayo is 566 yards away from the school record. He finished last season with over 1,000 receiving yards, as he entered his senior season. He has tallied 86 yards through two games on seven catches.
