LAS VEGAS, N.M. – The Angelo State University women's soccer team crushed the New Mexico Highlands University Cowgirls in a 6-0 shut out on Sunday afternoon.
In Case You Missed It:
- In the 13th minute of the game, Valerie Solis received a pass from Emily Keoughan to hit the net to give ASU a quick 1-0 lead over NMHU.
- Over halfway through the first half, Trenadey Scott found Gabby Villagrand at the goal to increase the lead 2-0.
- In the final minute of the first, Madison Stokes notched her first goal of the season to push ASU 3-0.
- In the second half, the Belles domination continued, as Solis, Reagan Urbany, and Keoughan all tallied goals for the Belles to claim a 6-0 victory.
Coach McCorkle's Thoughts:
"A very good performance. Good to see Val get the first goal and for us to keep the foot on the gas and keep going. Trenadey scored a great goal that was called back for offside just before halftime that would have made it 4-0, but the run and pass from Mia was excellent and needs to be mentioned. Once we settled into a rhythm, we were creating chance after chance. Great to see
Emily Keoughan get a couple goals and
Madison Stokes scored a great goal as well. Obviously, another shutout too and that builds our confidence moving forward."
Notable Players:
- Solis led the offense with two goals, followed by Keoughan with three assists.
- Keoughan, Urbany, Villagrand, and Stokes all registered goals for the Belles as well.
- Kira Miller saw 65 minutes in net for the Belles and Madison Daniel made her freshman debut in goal with 24 minutes and grabbed one save.
