SAN ANGELO, Texas –
Thomas Cain and
Parker Bramlett helped the No. 1 Angelo State University baseball team to a series sweep over Cameron University on Sunday afternoon with a 23-8 victory in the series finale. Cain finished the day with five RBI and three runs while Bramlett finished 4-for-6 from the plate with three RBI and three runs.
The Rams remain undefeated in the regular season and conference action with a 10-0 record.
In Case You Missed It:
- The Rams momentum started out quick, scoring four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead over the Aggies. With bases loaded, Nick Seginowich was walked to score Bramlett for the first run of the game and Aaron Walters followed behind with a two-run single to right field to score Bradley Mathiowetz and Josh Elvir. Riley Peterson allowed the fourth run to score with a sacrifice fly to right field.
- Cameron ended the shutout at the top of the second, scoring one run. The Blue and Gold kept the lead at 5-1, as Cain scored on an error by the Aggies.
- The Aggies hits continued as Cameron scored two runs off solo home runs by Izrael Trevino and Jordan Harrison to close in on the Rams lead at 5-3.
- In the bottom of the third, Angelo State ran away with the lead. Walters led things off with a single up the middle and ended up advancing to second on a wild pitch. Peterson was walked and Nick Novak was hit by a pitch to load the bases. With one out, Cain hit a two-run single up the middle, advancing the runners and scoring Peterson and Walters. Bramlett hit a triple to right field to clear the bases, increasing the Rams lead to 9-3. From there, the Rams tallied three more hits and caused errors by the Aggies to score five more runs to lead 14-3 at the end of the third.
- In the fourth inning, Cooper Edwards smashed the third home run for the Aggies with a two-run bomb over the right field wall to trail 14-5 to the Rams.
- The Blue and Gold scored six more runs in the bottom of the fifth to lead 20-5 with Cain being responsible for half of the runs off a triple to right field to score Tyler Mendoza, Peterson, and Derrick Winn.
- The Rams scored another three runs in the bottom of the sixth and Cameron answered with three runs at the top of the seventh but it was not enough as ASU took the 23-8 victory.

"Great team win. It was good to see us come out and finish strong. Lot of good performances. Now we will get back to work and try and get better."
Notable Performances:
- Peterson contributed to the Ram offense with two RBI, four runs, and he went 2-for-2 from the plate.
- Mathiowetz and Nick Seginowich also tallied two RBI and two runs for the ASU offense while Walters had two RBI and one run.
- Novak and Jordan Williams each recorded an RBI and Novak scored one run. Two other players contributed with one run as well for the Rams.
- Angelo State tallied a total of 17 hits with 18 RBI in 31 at-bats.
- On the mound, Carson Childers came in to relieve Barnett and earned his first win on the season. He only gave up one hit in 2.2 innings of work and struck out six batters.

Angelo State will head to Lubbock Christian for a four game series on Friday, February 21 through Sunday, February 23. First pitch on Friday is slated for 3 p.m.
