Rambelles Wrap Up Florida Tech Invite With A Win

MELBOURNE, Florida – The Angelo State Rambelle softball team wrapped up the Florida Tech Invitational as ASU defeated the University of New Haven Chargers, 4-0.
The Rambelles are now 7-3 overall.
 
Against New Haven:
  • Courtney Barnhill would start things off for the Rambelles as she would reach first on a fielding error, and then shortly afterwards would steal second.
  • With a runner on second, Genesis Armendariz and the Rambelle defense quickly put out the next three Chargers to get the bats rolling once again in the top of the 3rd.
  • Logan Graham singled on a bunt. Barnhill would step up to the plate and smacked a single out into deep left center field, scoring Graham. Angelo State took a 1-0 lead.
  • Barnhill stole second base shortly after Graham scored. Paxton Scheurer was walked and Barnhill would steal third base.
  • Scheurer would advance to second on a wild pitch as Barnhill scored another run for the Rambelles, extending ASUs' lead to 2-0.
  • Keilei Garcia would hit a single into left field in the bottom of the 4th. Mykayla Stroud would ground out to shortstop, advancing Garcia to third.
  • Scheurer would single into left field, with Hatty Shope pinch running for Scheurer.
  • With two runners on base at the top of the 6th, Armendarizs' pitching skills and the Rambelles impressive defense kept the Chargers from scoring.
  • Madison Fernandez would reach 1st base on an error, with Megan Gordon pinch running for Fernandez.
  • Karina Rocha smacked a double out into deep left field, advancing Gordon to third. Ashlyn Lerma would pinch run for Rocha.
  • Garcia would fly out to second base on a sacrifice fly, advancing Lerma to 3rd and scoring Gordon. Strother would fly out to center field on a sacrifice fly, scoring Lerma. The Rambelles would take a 4-0 lead over New Haven.
  • Victoria Vasquez would relieve Armendariz at the top of 7th inning, throwing a strikeout. Angelo State would defeat New Haven, 4-0.

The Rambelles return home for their annual George and Ola McCorkle Challenge, co-hosted by Tarleton State and sponsored by Bahlman Cleaners. The tournament will start on Friday, February 14 and will end on Sunday, February 16.
